3 Nigerian soldiers die as Army, Air Force joint operation against Boko Haram turns bloody

- Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in conjunction with the Nigerian Air Force on Operation Deep Punch are collaborating well in the fight against insurgency

- The joint team has within the past one week embarked on clearance operations to dislodge Boko Haram terrorists (BHT) from their camps

- They have successfully carried out their tasks

Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in conjunction with the Nigerian Air Force on Operation Deep Punch have successfully cleared terrorists’ hideouts at Talala, Ajigin, Mangzum, Abagajiri, Kafa, Dusula, Buk, Malumti and Abulam all in Borno state.

This was revealed in a statement sent toNAIJ.com by the deputy director, army public relations 7 division, Colonel Kingsley Samuel.

According to the statement, the troops on Friday, November 10, while acting on credible on information that the terrorists were massing up at certain camps in fringes of Sambisa forest, advanced and cleared the insurgents at Shyadawe-Angwan-Fulani, Shyadawe-Angwan-Bula-Musa and Shyadawe.

According to sources, the operation saw to the elimination of over 100 terrorists who dared the troops as unknowing to them, the troops were heavily prepared and well coordinated for the operation.

This is coming just within one week of intensive intelligence and operational campaigns by the troops acting on information that the remnants of Boko Haram within their area of operation were gathering to attack the civilian population.

It may be recalled that Nigerian troops acting on intelligence from locals in Adamawa state neutralized about 42 Boko Haram members and capture their major supply of ammunition in an operation that many have confessed to be a landmark achievement in the troops’ campaign in the northeast.

The statement also said the troops during the operation encountered Boko Haram terrorists and neutralized many of them.

Unfortunately 3 soldiers died in the operation, while 6 soldiers and a Civilian JTF sustained injuries, the statement informed.

“The remains of the deceased soldiers have been evacuated while those injured are receiving medical treatment at a military hospital.

“The troops captured 2 gun trucks, 3 motorcycles, many bicycles and a laptop containing valuable information. They also located a vandalized and un-serviceable tank in one of the cleared BHT camp,” the statement said.

Similarly, a recent operation by the Nigerian Army led to the death of one of the terrorists and the recovery of some of their things.

According to Brigadier-General Sani Kukasheka Usman who is the spokesperson of the Nigerian army, the operation was carried out on Friday, November 3, in Borno state.

He said the soldiers recovered four bicycles, some mechanical tools which aids the terrorists vehicle movement, clothes and explosive wires from the ambush site.
